Year 8 Assessment Task

Brief -

To design and make a Clock which will stand on a flat surface in your lounge, or similar room.

 

It must -

1    Be made from plastic (Acrylic preferred).

2    Look attractive (be Aesthetically Pleasing).

3    Use a clock movement as supplied.

4    Manufacture must be within four weeks.

 

Notes -

Your folder (A3 paper) should contain evidence of a thorough research, at least three basic ideas, and a carefully considered development of your chosen idea. Be as detailed as possible.

A typical folder will ----
1    Start with a description of where this clock will be used, and who is likely to use it. (Notes and sketch/photo etc.).
2    Have a section containing detailed research.
3    Fairly well detailed drawings of at least three basic ideas.
4    Development of the chosen idea describing how your clock will be manufactured in the time allowed.

You may use some attractive wood to enhance your design if you wish.

Your folder must contain some evidence of ICT in drawings, information, or both.

You will have four weeks for manufacture, beginning immediately when you return after the Easter break..

Assessing will especially take into account the quality, and detail, of work in both the folder
and practical work.
